One should use some caution when in ᴄʟᴏsᴇ proximity to baby elephants because of their reputation for mischief. They have a propensity to delightfully grasp hold of people and plonk. When a tourist tries to take a picture with a mischievous baby elephant, the elephant knocks him to the ground.
Two people are hiding in front of a herd of elephants at the Chiang Mai Elephant Sanctuary in North Tʜᴀɪʟᴀɴᴅ as one of the baby elephants among them causes some difficulty. The elephant pushes forward and pokes its trunk on the female tourist’s head before doing the same to her boyfriend as they both crouch down in front of the elephants.
While her friend keeps taking shots, the female tourist hurriedly gets to her feet to escape being knocked to the ground. The unruly elephant approaches the male visitor and eventually topples him.
According to news reports, a sanctuary guide had advised the visitors not to turn their backs on the elephants, particularly the young ones who are notorious for being mischievous.
The sanctuary is a distinctive conservation effort that helps ᴇɴᴅᴀɴɢᴇʀed species remain in their natural environments. It is about 60 kilometers from Chiang Mai City.
