This Hyena Indirectly Saves Impala From Leopard’s Mouth, So Amazing!

This amazing incident occurred at a waterhole in Sᴏᴜᴛʜ Aғʀɪᴄᴀ when a hyena attempted to grab an impala from a leopard’s mouth. After spending hours observing the wildlife at the Delaporte waterhole in Kruger National Park, Peet Van Schalkwyk caught the footage.

Before discovering that a leopard was hidden in the jungle, the retired engineering professor had seen elephants, zebras, giraffes, and impalas drinking at the watering well. The predator sᴛᴀʀᴛʟᴇd impala herds while waiting on the sidelines and was unsuccessful in his search throughout the morning.

However, Mr. Van Schalkwyk managed to film the surprising moment the leopard made a successful lunge for prey, pursuing after one impala who had fallen into the water. It forced the animal onto the ground ᴄʟᴏsᴇ to the cement barrier by dragging it by its neck in the direction of a tree.

A hyena stumbled over to the waterhole just when things seemed hopeless for the impala. The impala took advantage of the opportunity to flee when it spotted the leopard in the nearby thicket and chased the predator away.

Mr. Van Schalkwyk said that the hyena ᴀᴄᴄɪᴅᴇɴᴛally saved the impala. They were overjoyed to have seen soᴍᴇᴛʜing so extraordinary. They had seen cheetah ᴋɪʟʟs before, but never a leopard ᴋɪʟʟ, so that was a first for them.

Here is that amazing moment:
